Sleep Apnea is a chronic, serious, life threatening and life shortening condition that interrupts breathing throughout the night. As a result, the heart and brain are repeatedly deprived of oxygen contributing to a long list of medical conditions including: Hypertension, Heart Failure, Diabetes and Stroke.
Snoring is the universal language of fragmented sleep and frustrated bed partners. It is the poster child for Sleep Apnea. 40-60% of adults who snore may also suffer from sleep apnea, increasing the likelihood of death from these associated medical conditions.
CPAP Intolerance. Continuous Positive Air Pressure is a machine that blows air down the throat to blow open the airway. It is the Gold Standard for treating Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Unfortunately, 50-70% of CPAP users cannot tolerate CPAP. Oral Appliance Therapy is the first line treatment recommended by the American Association of Sleep Medicine for treating CPAP Intolerance.
Sleep Bruxism is a sleep disorder characterized by clenching or grinding the teeth during sleep. It is an abnormal sleep behavior called a parasomnia, possibly an attempt by the body to move the lower jaw forward in an attempt to open the airway.
